Making S'MORES was so much fun! We had a great time participating in a cooking activity with"Chef”/Speech-Language Pathologist, Mrs. Kayla. One of our objectives was to follow directions using the recipe/picture cards. We used our fine/gross motor skills by measuring, scooping, mixing, waiting, and eating. Mrs. Kayla asked us lots of "wh" questions during our cooking activity. It was so fun to prepare and eat! Throughout the year, we will continue participating in cooking and craft activities. Cooking with children can promote language/literacy, build basic skills, develop their senses, target articulation skills, and boost pragmatic language skills & confidence. Thank you Mrs. Kayla, we had an AWESOME time making s'mores!

The Fair was so much fun! We rode on dizzy rides that went around and around, and other rides lifted us high into the air. Even though we were at the fair, Mrs I. and Mrs. Sharon still turned the fun into a learning opportunity. We practiced skills that we have learned in the classroom. While waiting our turn in line, we practiced patience, and maintaining appropriate personal space. We also had the chance to utilize our conversation skills when talking with peers from other schools, and also talking with the Fair workers who operated the rides. Visiting the farm animals was super fun. We were amazed as we observed baby quail hatching from their tiny eggs. Some of our favorite animals were the camels, zebras, kangaroos, cows, goats, and even a kookaburra! We finished off our day with a popular "fair" meal of hot dogs, chips and an ice-cold drink. It was a wonderful, exciting and memorable day!
What do 10 pins and a big heavy ball have to do with learning? Quite a lot actually. Not only do we have fun, but we also learn self-confidence; patience; taking turns; sportsmanship; hand/eye coordination; balance; and counting by using simple math. We had an awesome time at Junction Lanes today! |
